Rocking it old school...

Stream of conscious typing while listening....

...intro vocals to "Hybrid moments" made me think it would have a violent femmes sound... second voice comes in and surprises me. I really like this one. One of the best I've heard you do.... raw, with energy without sounding posed. Very real.

We bite comes in and I'm smiling.... the juxtapositon of the horror lyrics with the "la la" vocals... cracking me up.

I'm going back up and clicking "Angela"... didn't notice it the first time. I'd suggest recording the guitar and vocals separately if possible... allows the vocals to move a bit more freely from the strumming. An inexpensive compressor will keep the mic from maxing out on the louder parts and clipping. Good open tone on the guitar. Second mic?

Angela is a bit too "folkey" for my tastes... so I'm going back to Hybrid to listen again. I like the vocals, guitar, and production best on that song. Good job. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I think what I liked the most about we bite is the contrast between style and lyrics and I don't know any band or artist doing that. That might be an avenue you could ride alone

thanks for the kind words. i could try messing with hybrid moments a bit but it's one of my favorite misfits songs and i didn't want to screw with it...heh

as far as angela goes, that's a very old recording using a different process. i want to go back and re-record some of my originals such as that one with the process i'm using now. pretty happy with how the misfits onse came out...still have to add some things to we bite(more vocals, fix guitar parts)
